Robert V. Hutyra, age 87, of West, passed away early Saturday morning, July 8, 2006 in Temple. A rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Military graveside rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery conducted by VFW Post #4819. Mr. Hutyra was born December 28, 1918 near West, the son of Vinc and Christine (Ondrej) Hutyra. Robert served his country with the 143rd Medical Regiment of the 36th Division of the United States Army during World War II. He participated in campaigns in Africa and Italy, and received a Purple Heart for wounds received. On November 14, 1942 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Macicek in Waco. He worked as a lab technician at the Waco Veterans Hospital for over twenty-five years before retiring in 1970. Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, and raising cattle. He was a member of VFW Post #4819 in West, a life member of the Purple Heart Association Lodge No 476, and the R.V.O.S. Lodge. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. His parents; two brothers, Edwin Hutyra and Jerry Hutyra; and two sisters, Mary Vanek and Martha Macicek preceded him in death. Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Hutyra of West; one son, Robert J. Hutyra and his wife Georgia of West; two daughters, Margaret Kubala and her husband Kenneth and Theresa Hutyra, all of West; six grandchildren, Rodney Hutyra and his wife, Aimee, Michael Hutyra, Kristie Bryant and her husband Blake, Angela Kubala, Kenneth Kubala, Jr., and Andrea Kubala; two great-grandchildren, Lucas Bryant and Cole Bryant; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers will be Rodney Hutyra, Michael Hutyra, Kenneth Kubala, Jr., Blake Bryant, Gary Malone, and Ed Traywick, Jr. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center.
