Robert Ed Tobola, age 59, of Elm Mott, went to be with our Lord early Monday morning, August 15, 2005 at St. Catherine Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, by Monsignor Isidore Rozycki. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Monsignor Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery near Penelope. Mr. Tobola was born on October 6, 1945 in Penelope, the son of Eddie and Frances J. (Gorubec) Tobola. He graduated from Penelope High School in 1965. On May 31, 1965, he was united in marriage to Mary Sue Lipsey in Waco. Robert has lived and worked in the Penelope, Axtell, Elm Mott and West area all of his life. He has owned several businesses in and around the area such as, Tobola's Stop-N-Go in Penelope, Hwy 31 Used Auto Parts in Axtell and T's Glass & Construction in Elm Mott. He was in the glass business for over forty years also working for Binswanger Glass Company, Pro Glass & Mirror, Waco Glass and Mirror, and Allen Glass Company. He was in the Texas State Guard and has served in several communities as City Marshall and Mayor of Penelope, President of the Axtell-Elk Fire Department, and served on the water board for Axtell. Robert enjoyed camping, boat riding, auto racing and riding motorcycles. He was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. His parents, and an infant sister, JoAnn Tobola, both precede him in death. Survivors include his beloved wife of 40 years, Mary Tobola of Elm Mott; three sons, Dewayne Tobola and wife Catherine, Bobby Tobola and Michael Tobola, all of Elm Mott; two sisters, Dorothy Grmela and husband Rudy of Elm Mott and Gerri Weber and husband Steve of Corsicana; brother-in-law, Tony Michalek of Penelope; granddaughter, Caitlyn Tobola; and several nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives. Pallbearers are Frankie Michalek, Danny Michalek, Edward Grmela, Butch Manske, Erasmo Lozano and Chris Kirkpatrick.
