Robert E. Nors, age 81, of Abbott, a very proud Christian husband, father and grandfather, passed away Sunday morning, March 14, 2021 at his residence, surrounded by his family. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Thursday at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 19, 2021 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, with Rev. Brijil Lawrence and Rev. Stephen Nesrsta as celebrants, assisted by Deacons Denver Crawley and Terry Timmons. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery. Limited capacity, facial masks, and social distancing are encouraged at all services. Robert was born August 1, 1939 in Abbott, the son of Vaclav "Jim" and Clara (Hykel) Nors. He attended schools in Abbott. On November 7, 1959 he was united in marriage to Marie Neckar in Abbott. Robert was a lifelong and faithful member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, where he was in the initial first communion class and an original altar server. He was also a member of the KJT Society #107. Robert was not only a farmer and rancher, but was known as an innovator in the agriculture industry and a soil conservationist. He enjoyed working the land and tending to his cattle. You would find him in the same seat each Thursday at the West Livestock Auction buying and selling. He and his entire family operated a dairy for 28 years and sold corn seed throughout the state of Texas and beyond. He was very proud of receiving the Texas Area 8 Farmer of the Year Award in 1970. Robert helped organize the Chatt Water Supply Corporation and served on the Abbott ISD School Board. He never met a stranger, was always willing to help anyone in need, loved listening to Czech music and dancing to polkas and waltzes. Robert is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, James Nors and Michael Nors; and a grandson, Justin Waters. Survivors include his beloved wife of 61 years, Marie Nors of Abbott; his children, Carolyn Waters and husband Robin of West, Richard Nors and wife Thi of Dallas, David Nors and wife Tammie of Abbott, Matthew Nors and wife Julie of Keller, and Kevin Nors and wife Karleen of Abbott; daughters-in-law, Cathy Nors and Kelly Nors, both of West; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; a brother, Marvin Nors and wife Joan; his sisters, Marcella Sinkule, Dolores Willenborg and husband Jerry, and Clara Mae Roznovsky and husband Edmund; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Aaron Nors, Joshua Nors, Jacob Waters, Brandon Nors, Thomas Nors, Nathan Nors, Andrew Nors, Garrett Nors, and Eli Nors. Honorary pallbearers are Katie Miller, Tiffany Blau, Sierra Johnson, Julia Waters, Danielle Nors, Allison Nors, and Kaitlyn Nors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church or Justin Waters Memorial Scholarship.
