Robert Bob Waters

Robert E. "Bob" Waters, age 84, of Waco, passed away late Sunday morning, December 10, 2017 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Al Lowe officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at Gholson Cemetery, conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Bob was born July 24, 1933 in New Albany, New York, the son of Ruben and Gladys (Bliss) Waters. He graduated from Cattaraugus High School in 1951 and attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He served his country in the United States Air Force and Army for 19 years during the Vietnam and Korean Wars. On July 6, 1961, he was united in marriage to Wanda Attaway in Waco. Wanda preceded him in death on March 23, 2002. Bob worked for the postal service in Deer Park, Mexia and Waco for 34 years until his retirement in 1994. He enjoyed attending Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Gholson. He was a member of the VFW Post #6008. Bob is also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert Reid; and many brothers and sisters. Survivors include his children, Russell Waters and wife Brenda of LaPorte, Joan Patton and husband David, Glenn Waters, Billy Peevey and Kim Eastwood, all of Gholson; a brother, Richard Waters and wife Ann; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Brandon Waters, Will Roland, T.J. Heffernan, Robert Waters, James Young and John Heffernan. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
