Robert A. Podsednik

Robert A. Podsednik, age 89, of Leroy, passed away late Saturday night, January 28, 2017 at Providence Hospital in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 2, 2017 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki and Rev. Walter Dhanwar as celebrants. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery, conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard. Robert was born July 20, 1927 in Tours, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Snider) Podsednik. He attended Leggott school. He served his country with the United States Navy during World War II. On October 17, 1949 he was united in marriage to Louise Straten in Tours. Robert worked for General Motors in Arlington for over 30 years, before retiring in 1984 and was also a cattle rancher. He was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. He was also a lifelong member of the West V.F.W. Post #4819 and Catholic Life. Robert enjoyed fishing, deer hunting, dancing, and raising cattle. He received a patent for the Podsednik Pecan. Robert is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Jody Podsednik and Ed Podsednik; and sisters, Josephine Matus, Antonia Brooks, Adeline Davis, Ernestine Janek, Lois Popp, twin sister Rebecca Bray and Wyanda Bridges. Survivors include his beloved wife of 67 years, Louise Podsednik of Leroy; his children, Jackie Burroughs and husband Roy of Shreveport, LA, Steve Podsednik and wife Diane of Hico and Pam Dudik and husband Bill of Dallas; 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Chris Burroughs, Kyle Burroughs, Jason Podsednik, Randy Baker, Justin Barham and Bo Brooks. Honorary pallbearers are Kenneth Glomb and David Glomb. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, West Rest Haven Disaster Relief Fund or Tours Cemetery Association. The family would like to give a special thank to the staff of West Rest Haven for their love, car and support.
