Rita Snokhous

Rita Rose Snokhous, age 80, of Tours, passed away early Tuesday morning, November 3, 2015 at Quality Care in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Friday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Janice Kaluza, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Rev. Michael Ajewole as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery. Rita was born April 8, 1935 in Leroy, the daughter of Anton and Rosalie (Blahuta) Vrba. She attended schools in Tours and West. On November 15, 1952, Rita was united in marriage to August Alphonse "Gus" Snokhous in Tours. Gus preceded her in death on May 3, 1990. Rita worked for Tours Day Care and Tours Gin for a number of years. She also worked for Heitmiller's Restaurant for 17 years, retiring in 2007. She was a faithful member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. Rita was also a member of St. Elizabeth Society and KJZT Society #45 The Assumption. She loved gambling, decorating for the Christmas Season, collecting Cabbage Patch dolls and going to garage sales and the Flea Market. Rita is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Doug Snokhous; brothers, August Vrba, Raymond Vrba, Alphonse Vrba, Tony Vrba, Eugene Vrba and Joseph Vrba; and sisters, Helen Newman, Josephine Dvoracek and Della Burt. Survivors include her children, Beverly Polansky and husband Anton of West and David Snokhous and wife Dana of Round Rock; grandchildren, Michelle Sing and husband Tommy, Sherry Janner and husband Matt, Valerie Snokhous, Darik Snokhous, Roger Herring III and Krystalle Herring-Gilder; great-grandchildren, Braden, Avery, Alexis, Jake, Zoe and Zane; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth Altar Society in Tours or Follow The Star Mission, 700 W. White Stone Blvd., Cedar Park, Texas 78613.
