Ricky Shane Martin

Ricky Shane Martin, age 45, of West, passed away Friday afternoon, March 23, 2007 at his residence. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. Ricky was born November 3, 1961 in Key West, Florida, the son of William "Bill" Martin and Samantha Kellum. He attended grade school in Hillsboro and Itasca and was a 1980 graduate of Sam Houston High School in Arlington. He then attended Hill College and also Texas State Technical College. On December 10, 1983 he was united in marriage to Lisa Ann Uptmore. Ricky was a truck driver for Alamo Steel Company in Waco before becoming disabled. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Ricky enjoyed fishing, hunting, and water skiing. He especially loved spending time with his kids and supporting them in their sports and other activities. Survivors include his beloved wife of 23 years, Lisa Uptmore Martin; a son, Ethan and a daughter, Erin; his mother, Samantha Hudson and husband John of Cleburne; his father, Bill Martin and wife Eliza of West; his parental grandmother, Pauline Kelsey of West; two sisters, Vikki Martin Reese and husband Rick of West and Tracy Bennett and husband Larry of Kennedale; his mother-in-law, Shellie Uptmore of West; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Uptmore and wife Donna of West; and Frankie Uptmore and wife Debra of Georgetown; and many other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to an Education Fund for Ethan and Erin or Providence Hospice.
