Richard Warren Smith, age 61, of Arlington, passed away Saturday evening, April 26, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. The family will receive visitors from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Richard was born November 16, 1952 in San Antonio, the son of James W. and Marie (Casey) Smith. He attended schools in Arlington. He served his country with the United States Army in Germany from 1969 to 1972. On December 6, 1986 he was united in marriage to Rebecca Gorski in Leroy. Richard was a long haul truck driver for several companies including Central Transport. He was a former member of the Leroy Church. Richard enjoyed taxidermy, fishing, car racing, antiques and boating. Richard is preceded in death by his mother; a brother, Johnny Smith; and a sister, Anita Pack. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Rebecca Smith of Arlington; a son, Eriah "Nick" Smith of Allen, Oklahoma; two daughters, Linda Williams of Arlington and Marcy Marie Smith-Bass and husband Steve of Speegleville; his father, James W. Smith and wife Almeda; a brother, Jimmie Smith and wife Jeannie; a sister, Alice Moore and husband Mike; 7 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Ruth Gorski; his dogs, Haley and Jazzy; his grand dog, Rowdy; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
