Richard T. Urbanovsky

December 31, 1946 — January 27, 2012

Richard T. Urbanovsky, age 65, of West, was taken up peacefully from his home to be with his Lord and Savior late Friday afternoon, January 27, 2012. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mr. Urbanovsky was born on December 31, 1946 in Waco, the son of Joe T. and Elizabeth Anna (Gajdica) Urbanovsky. He graduated from West High School in 1965 and from Baylor University in Waco with a Bachelor of Business Degree. On August 3, 1968, he was united in marriage to Anna Marie Urban in Bellmead. Richard worked as a claims manager for Texas Farm Bureau in Waco for 34 years until his retirement in 2004. While working for Texas Farm Bureau Richard received many awards and recognitions for his faithful service to the company. Prior to that, he worked for American Income Life in Waco and Two J's in Austin while a student at the University of Texas. Richard and Anna were foster parents for Marywood in Austin for a few years. He loved deer hunting, fishing, attending Westfest, supporting the Olympics, dancing, and camping at Lake Whitney. Richard especially enjoyed spending time with his family and dearly loved his grandchildren. He was most proud of being a good provider and seeing his children get a college education. Richard was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He was also a member of the K.J.T. Society No. 31 and Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305. Survivors include his beloved wife of 43 years, Anna Urbanovsky of West; a son, Mark Urbanovsky and wife Kristine of Johnson City; a daughter, Denise Urbanovsky Pruski and husband Charles of Wimberley; a brother, Larry Urbanovsky and wife Christi; three sisters, Carolyn Gerik and husband Tom, Rita Cox and Sara Gerik and husband Tommy "Tye"; a brother-in-law, Anthony Urban and wife Mary and a sister-in-law, Catherine Devorsky and husband Bobby; grandchildren, Alexis, Levi, Westin and Cassandra; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Greg Jones, Justin Cox, Joe Gerik, Keith Gerik, Michael Devorsky, G.T. Devorsky, Jeff Rogers, Michael Johnson, Brandon Hinojosa, Shane Anderson and Brandon Dieterich. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund, St. Mary's Cemetery Association or West Library Association.
