Richard Roe Busby

Richard Roe "Dick" Busby, age 77, of Ross, passed away early Thursday morning, November 11, 2010 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Chaplain Larry Holden and Martin "Butch" Beck officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at White Rock Cemetery, conducted by West V.F.W. Post No. 4819. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Busby was born January 25, 1933 in West, the son of William Allen and Gracie (Greenhill) Busby. He grew up and attended school in West. On September 1, 1951 Dick was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Jacqueline Popp. He served in the United States Air Force from 1951 until 1955. During that time, Dick and Jackie experienced many adventures before returning home and starting a family. He graduated from Baylor University in 1958 with a degree in Business Administration. Dick was employed by Darr Equipment in Waco, selling heavy equipment for 35 years. He retired in 1988, after building many relationships established while with Darr Equipment. He then enjoyed spending time with family and friends, his domino buddies, and just piddling on the farm where he and Jackie had lived for the past 38 years. Mr. Busby was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Busby Penland. Left to cherish his memory is his beautiful and loving wife of 59 years, Jacqueline Busby of Ross; two sons, Blane Busby and wife Pamela of Temple, and Richard R. Busby Jr. and wife Cindy of Ross; four daughters, Kim Busby of Marlin, Brenda Kay Holland and husband Fred of Ross, Tana Nichols and husband Ted of Damon, and Francene Dorton and husband Kevin of Robinson; one brother, Robert A. Busby of West; one sister, Willie Lois Patterson of Robinson; twenty grandchildren, Jennifer Ward and husband Michael, Jim Montgomery, Matthew, Meagan, Christopher, Haley, Alexander and Aimee Busby, Heather Coleman and husband Lance, Ashley Bohannon and fianc Ken Duvall, Maralee Nichols, Courtney Sanders and husband Gary, Caleb and Jacob Dorton, Emily, Trey, Gavin, Ashlyn and Lauryn Busby, and Holly Holland; eight great grandchildren, Ryan and Kyle Ward, Hadleigh Ballentine, Skyelar and Gage Sanders, Preston and Skylar Montgomery, and Landon Brodie Duvall; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Jim Montgomery, Lance Coleman, Gary Sanders, Michael Ward, Matthew Busby and Christopher Busby. Honorary pallbearers are Carl Curry, Tim Donnell, Gary Willis, Melvin Jares, Eddie Phillips and Ronnie Roberts. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hillcrest Community Hospice, White Rock Cemetery Association, or to the Ross Volunteer Fire Department. A special thank you to the staff of Hillcrest Medical and Hillcrest Community Hospice and Pastoral Care, Joe Hoyle, Maida, Charla, Shea, Kim, Kathryn, Betty, Dr. Lovett, Dr. Ni Jones and many others.
