Richard Lehmann

Richard Lehmann, age 78, of Hughes Springs, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 1, 2022 surrounded by his family and friends.

A Rosary will be recited followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2022 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with Deacon Robin Waters officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. The family will receive visitors at 10:00 a.m. Friday until the time of service.

Richard was born October 20, 1943 in Waco, the son of Lois (Landrum) Lehmann Zahirniak and Russell Lehmann. He attended school in the Hillsboro area. On November 26, 1966 he was united in marriage to Caral Ann "Tootsie" Hykel in West. He was a member of SPJST Lodge #6 in Cottonwood. He was owner-operator doing long haul trucking for many years until retiring in 2010. Richard enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, deer hunting, motorcycles, dancing, older country music, having a cold beer, and spending time with his family and friends. He loved life and enjoyed it to the fullest.

Richard is preceded in death by his parents; a step-father, Harry Zahirniak; and sisters, Dorothy Gabbert and Betty Huffert; two nieces; and one nephew.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Caral Ann "Tootsie" Lehmann of Hughes Springs; daughters, Laura Peek and husband Chris of Pittsburg, and Robyn Smith and husband Russell of Naples; sisters, Edda Kolar and husband Johnnie, and Janell Matus; grandsons, Garrett Allen, Alex Peek, and Aaron Smith and wife Felecia; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are Steve Karlik, Shelby Karlik, Eddie Hykel, Gene Hykel, Mark Hykel, and Larry Hykel. Honorary pallbearers are Garrett Allen, George Hykel, Don Belyeu, and Mickey Langford.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Cemetery Association or Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
