Rebecca "Ruby" Bray, age 84, of West, passed away early Tuesday afternoon, October 4, 2011 at West Rest Haven. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West by Janice Kaluza, with a visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery. Ruby was born July 20, 1927 near Tours, the daughter of Joseph Frank and Elizabeth (Snider) Podsednik. She attended schools in West. On October 6, 1953 she was united in marriage to Henry Leon Bray in Toledo, Ohio. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1998. Ruby worked as a waitress at Cattleman's Steakhouse in Dallas for 20 years. She then was employed by Miller Family Steakhouse in Waco for 8 years, until her retirement in 1997. Ruby was a member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. She enjoyed gambling, knitting, reading, and was know for her great sense of humor. She especially loved spending time with family. Ruby is also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Jodie Podsednik and Ed Podsednik; six sisters, Adeline Davis, Josephine Matus, Louise Popp, Antonia Brooks, Ernestine Janek, and Wanda Bridges; a niece, Shirley Uptmor; and a step-daughter, Peggy Rozanek. Survivors include her twin brother, Robert Podsednik and wife Louise of West; many wonderful nieces and nephews, including Bo Brooks and wife Darlene and Steve Podsednik, all of West; Joyce Wilhite and husband Tommy of Bruceville-Eddy, Pam Dudik and husband Bill, Frank Zotz and wife Lisa and Joe Ed Matus, all of Dallas, Jackie Burroughs and husband Roy of Shreveport, LA, Wilburn Matus and wife Esther of Salado and Jeannette Cernosek and husband Johnny of West; many great nieces and great nephews, including Brittney Hand and Jayme Brooks; a step-daughter, Dolores Starnes and husband Phil of Dallas; and many other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Jayme Brooks, Justin Hand, Steve Podsednik, Tommy Wilhite, Frank Zotz, Laurel Uptmor, Phil Starnes, and Joe Ed Matus. Honorary pallbearers are Joey Starnes, Andrew Starnes, Chad Rozanek and Aaron Rozanek. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Ambulance Assn. or St. Martin Cemetery.
