Raymond Michalek, age 69, of Leroy, passed away Sunday morning, April 30, 2017 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Waco. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki officiating. Burial will follow at St. Martin Cemetery in Tours. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home Raymond was born October 31, 1947 in Taylor the son of Anton and Betty (Klepek) Michalek. He was a graduate of Granger High School. He served his country with the United States Naval Reserves. On June 1, 1970 he was united in marriage to Barbara Schanhals in Elgin. Raymond currently worked for Barsh Construction Company in Waco. Prior to that, Raymond he worked for A&A Construction for over 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his yard and being outdoors. Raymond is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Daniel Michalek and Anton "Tony" Michalek. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Barbara Michalek of Leroy; ten nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Joy Michalek; brothers-in-law, Bruce Schanhals and wife Martha and Jim Schanhals; his beloved dog, Jessie; and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Frank Michalek, Dan Michalek, Robert Michalek, James Michalek, Thomas Michalek, Steven Michalek, Blake Schandals and Garrett Gutierrez. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Martin Cemetery Association.
