Raymond Joseph "Mickey" Janek, age 89, of West, passed away peacefully Monday morning, March 10, 2025, at Woodway Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Woodway.
Graveside Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 13, 2025 at West Brethren Cemetery, with Terry Crawford officiating.
Raymond was born August 16, 1935 in Waco, the son of the late Raymond and Lillian (Vitek) Janek. He was a 1953 graduate of West High School and a 1965 graduate of Baylor University where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Biology, and Education. He taught Biology at Connally High School and was principal of Bosqueville Schools. Raymond also spent some time working at the Pentagon and joined the United States Army Reserves. He then went to work for the State with the Texas Water Quality Board. In 1975, Raymond started Bio Chem Lab and was a self-employed environmental laboratory owner for many years before retiring in 2001. He enjoyed smoking his pipe, investing, computer work, and politics.
Survivors include his sons, Andrew Janek and wife Hania of McGregor, and Mark Janek and wife Brandy of West; his grandchildren, Allison, Rania, and Riyan Janek; the mother of his children, Juanita Janek; a close cousin, Colleen Brady of Houston; a dear family friend, Sarah Matula; and many other relatives and friends.
