Raymond F. Chudej, Jr.

December 1, 1944 — February 12, 2014

Raymond F. Chudej Jr., age 69, of West, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 12, 2014 at his residence. A rosary will be recited and funeral services held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek officiating. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. until service time, Saturday at the funeral home. Raymond was born December 1, 1944 in Tokio, the son of Lillie Frances (Novak) and Raymond T. Chudej Sr. He attended schools in West and was a 1963 graduate of West High School. On June 19, 1965 Raymond was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Urban in West. He was a long haul truck driver for Central Freight Lines in Waco for 30 years until he retired in 2003. Raymond also worked for the West Flour Mill. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Raymond was also a member of K.J.T. Society #31 in West. He was always involved in all of his children's and grandchildren's activities, especially barrel racing and bull riding. Raymond loved farming, gardening, hunting and fishing. He was an avid NASCAR fan where he loved watching Jimmy Johnson. He was also a big fan of the HOT Speedway, where his grandson Dustin raced. Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, A. P. Matus. Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years, Barbara Chudej of West; two daughters, Shelly Moore and husband Ty, and Sharon Davidson and husband Darren, all of West; a sister, Lillie Marie Matus of West; four grandchildren, Dustin Davidson, Austin Patterson, Kristin Davidson and Marli Moore; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren and fellow employees of Central Freight Lines. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, West Rest Haven Disaster Relief Fund, or West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
