Ray Sexton

Ray Sexton, age 85, of Abbott, passed away early Wednesday afternoon, December 26, 2012 at Senior Care in Hewitt. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek officiating. Private interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Ray was born December 20, 1929 in Colson, Kentucky, the son of Jay and Bertha (Taylor) Sexton. He attended schools in Colson. He served his country with the United States Army Corp of Engineers at the Panama Canal. In June of 1948 he was united in marriage to Marie Maler in Abbott. Ray was a farmer and also worked for Oak Farm Milk Company for 16 years and operated a antique business with his wife. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Ray was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2305 and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819. He enjoyed raising hogs. Ray is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Harold Ray Sexton; and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Marie Sexton of Abbott; brother, Harold Sexton; sisters, Lou Rissie, Letty Fay Kiser, Rene May Sexton and Martha Jane Sexton; grandchildren, Harold R. Sexton Jr and Michelle Steele; 7 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
