Raymond "Ray" Kubala, age 75 from Round Rock, passed away early Thursday morning, August 30 2018, at Cornerstone Hospital in Round Rock after a long struggle with ALS. Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Pflugerville. Memorial Graveside Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 6, 2018 at St. Mary's Cemetery in West, with Deacon Ronnie Sykora officiating. Ray was born and grew up in the town of West, Texas, just north of Waco. The community of West was always important to him with memories of Family, Relatives and lifelong Friends. He graduated from West High School in 1960 and accomplished many scholastic, social and athletic achievements. As a standout Football Player receiving a football scholarship to Texas A&M University. Upon Graduating in 1964, He was drafted by the Denver Broncos and played professional football. This was followed by a business career in Telecommunications construction. His 40 year career began at A.A. Cox in Denver, Colorado and continued through his retirement as Division Vice President from Mastec in Austin, Texas in 2008. When not working Ray enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends. Gardening and Walking were his past times along with having family and friends over for barbeque. Ray has always been a devoted Catholic. His faith guided him in all aspects of his life. We can take comfort in knowing that he is now resting in peace. Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Gail Kubala, their sons and spouses, Michael and Kim Kubala, Richard and Sharon Kubala, and 5 Grand Children, Kaitlynn, Kelsey, Julia, Grace and Will. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Association, Texas Chapter (www.alstexas.org).
