Polly Irene Jones

Polly Irene Jones, age 78, of West, passed away early Monday morning December 14, 2009 at West Rest Haven. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Curtis McGehee officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Polly was born August 24, 1931 in West, the daughter of James "Jay" and Lillian Viola (Lewis) Harris. She attended West schools and on March 1, 1947, she was united in marriage to Melvin Jones in Waco. He preceded her in death on March 6, 1997. Polly was a homemaker and Mother. She enjoyed cooking; going to garage sales; and playing poker, bingo, and pinochle. She especially loved spending time with family. Her parents; a brother, James Harris; and two sisters, Barbara Carpenter and Ima Lee Thompson also preceded her in death. Survivors include four daughters, Theresa Halbert and husband Bill of Whitney, Linda Ashley and husband Butch of Abbott, Barbara Walter and husband James Lay of Rockdale, and Jeannie Robinette and friend Joe Hert of Midland; two sons, Richard C. Jones of Laguna Park and Michael K. Jones and wife Dana of McGregor; a sister, Betty Harsanyi and husband Charles of Maryland; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers will be Corey Jones, John Schoen, Matthew Lawrence, Brian Jones, Dewey Jones, and Theo Robinette. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Hert, Mike Low, and Butch Ashley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West VFW Post #4819.
