Pete Moreno

Pete Moreno, age 68, of Tennessee Colony, passed away Thursday afternoon, August 25, 2016 at his residence. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Monday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at the Church of the Nativity BVM in Penelope, with Rev. Joe Keating as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery near Penelope. Pete was born January 31, 1948 in Mission, the son of Emilia (Mendoza) and the late Perfecto Moreno Sr. He attended school in Mission and was a 1969 graduate of Penelope High School. Pete worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a Correctional Officer before retiring in 2009. He previously worked for Centurion Mobile Homes in Waco. Pete enjoyed barbecuing, woodworking, fixing fences and helping with cattle. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Sheri Christian of Tennessee Colony; step-daughters, Aerin Thompson and Andria Thompson, both of Tennessee Colony; mother, Emilia Moreno; brothers, Andres Moreno and wife Lolita, Perfecto Moreno Jr. and wife Minnie and John Moreno and wife Betty; sisters, Anna Esparza and husband Lou, Maria Erwin and Tomasa Slater and husband Mike; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Ervin Kucera, James Slater, John Paul Esparza, Eric Esparza, Jonathan Moreno and Sean Moreno. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Nativity BVM in Penelope.
