Pete Levchik, Jr.

Pete M. "P.J." Levchik, Jr., age 57, of Bynum, passed away late Wednesday morning, February 4, 2009 at his residence. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Cemetery near West, with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Levchik was born September 27, 1951 in Windber, PA the son of Pete M. and Helen (Grellhesl) Levchik, Sr. He attended schools in Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Ohio before graduating from high school in Altus, Oklahoma. Pete was an auto mechanic and enjoyed buying, rebuilding, and selling antique cars and fire trucks. He worked with his father to build a car which was used in the movie "Places In The Heart". He loved racing cars and recently built a car that won the Bonneville Flats Race in Salt Lake City, Utah. He also enjoyed his cats, country music, cooking, telling jokes, and especially spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his father; grandparents, A.F. & Lena (Sulak) Grellhesl and Steve & Mary Levchik; an uncle, Jim Grellhesl; and aunts, Helen Nowacki and Christine Havrylak. Survivors include his mother, Helen Levchik of Bynum; daughters, Julie Johnson and husband Scott of Denton and Jo Jo Levchik of Altus, Oklahoma; his cat, Tommy; three granddaughters, Darlee, Darcee, & Jaicee Johnson; aunts and uncles, Jim & Dorothy Hinson of Plano, Jean Grellhesl of Ross, Steve Levchik of Windber, Pennsylvania, Nick Levchik of Pensicola, Florida, and Mildred & Ross Williams of Shawnee, Pennsylvania; several cousins including, Sherry Hinson, Joyce Blanchard and husband Lester "Peanut", Pat Zimmerman, and Donna Stone; and many other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA of Texas.
