Perfecto Moreno, Sr.

Perfecto Moreno, Sr., age 92, of Penelope, passed away early Thursday afternoon, October 3, 2013 at Hill Regional Hospital in Hillsboro. A rosary will be recited 2:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with visitation to follow until 4:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Church of the Nativity B.V.M. in Penelope with Rev. Ed Karasek and Rev. Ouseph Thekkumthala as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Perfecto was born April 18, 1921 in Via de Arista, San Luis Potosi Mexico, the son of Pantalion Medrano and Maria Moreno. On March 19, 1945 he was united in marriage to Emilia Mendoza. Perfecto was a brick maker for Valley Brick Company and a butcher for Leal Packing Company, both in Mission. He was a member of the Church of the Nativity B.V.M. in Penelope. Perfecto enjoyed playing pool, ranching and farming. He especially loved spending time with his family. Perfecto is preceded in death by his parents; and four sisters; three sons; and a great grandson. Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years, Emilia Moreno of Penelope; four sons, Andres Moreno and wife Lolita of Waco, Pete Moreno and friend Sherry of Tennessee Colony, Perfecto Moreno Jr. and wife Minnie and John Moreno and wife Betty, both of Penelope; three daughters, Anna Esparza and husband Lou and Maria Erwin, both of Penelope, and Tomasa Slater and husband Mike of Tennessee Colony; a sister Pilar Medrano; 44 grandchildren; 37 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Bernie Svacina, Eddie Krueger, Jonathan Moreno, Sean Moreno, John Paul Esparza, Erik Esparza, Michael Slater and James Slater. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Church of the Nativity B.V.M. in Penelope.
