Perfecto Moreno, Jr.

April 18, 1949 — March 28, 2024

Perfecto Moreno, Jr, age 74, of Penelope, passed away Thursday afternoon, March 28, 2024 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco.


A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2024 at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Penelope, with Rev. Thomas Jones as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery near Penelope, conducted by West Veterans Honor Guard.


Perfecto was born April 18, 1949 in Madero, Texas the son of Perfecto and Emilia (Mendoza) Moreno. He attended Penelope schools. On October 11, 1980 he was united in marriage to Minerva "Minnie" Lozano in West. Perfecto proudly served his country with the United States Army as a Specialist 5th Class during the Vietnam War, where he earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Perfecto was a member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, American Legion Post #478, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819 in West. He worked for Rock Tenn in Waxahachie for 25 years. Perfecto enjoyed watching and playing baseball, deep sea fishing, and mudding with his friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and friends, and visiting with his Mother every day.


Perfecto is preceded in death by his father, and brothers, Andres Moreno, Pedro "Pete" Moreno, and Placido Moreno.


Survivors include his beloved wife of 44 years, Minnie Moreno of Penelope; his mother, Emilia Moreno; his daughter, Paula Anderson and husband W.J. of Penelope; grandchildren, Jerry Anderson and Brandy Anderson; brother, John Moreno and wife Betty; sisters, Anna Esparza, Maria Erwin, and Tomasa Slater and husband Mike; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Active pallbearers are Jonathan Moreno, Sean Moreno, Art Mendoza, Billy Wafer, Steve Wright, and Tony Wright. Honorary pallbearers are members of the West Veterans Honor Guard.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Penelope Volunteer Fire Department.


The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Penelope Volunteer Fire Department, the staff of Fresenius Kidney Care of Hillsboro, and the nurses and staff of Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital for their love and care.
