Peggy Larue Hill

October 22, 1934 — April 12, 2023

Peggy Larue (Nix) Hill, age 88, of West, passed away Wednesday morning, April 12, 2023 at Providence Park Village in Waco.


Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2023 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Eddie Middlebrook II officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.


Peggy was born October 22, 1934 in Hill County near Whitney, the daughter of Byrd Dennis "B.D." and Edna (Hewett) Nix. She was a 1952 graduate of Waco Tech High School and later graduated from Southwest Graduate School of Banking in 1974. On August 29, 1952 she was united in marriage to Joe Hill in Waco. Joe preceded her in death on August 1, 2017. Peggy served many years in banking starting at First National Bank in Waco from 1952 to 1955, National City Bank in Waco from 1957 to 1968, then she served as a vice president and director for West Bank and Trust for many years before retiring in 1981. Peggy was the second female bank officer in the Waco area. She was a member of Women's Banking Organization from 1965 to 1981 and served two terms on the West ISD School Board. She then worked for the West News and was a bookkeeper and buyer for Genecov from 1983 to 1986. Then she returned to West Bancshares, Inc from 1986 to her retirement in 2001. Peggy enjoyed gardening, genealogy, quilting, crocheting, canning, bowling, playing dominoes, studying her Bible, and "her favorite" discussing politics and religion. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and attending all their school events.


Peggy is also preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Edward Middlebrook;  brothers, Asbury Nix and Billy Nix; and sisters, Edna Rosa, Dorothy Murray, Betty Harrison, and Ruth Myers.


Survivors include her children, Dennis Hill and wife Linda of West, Kenneth Hill and wife Melinda of West, Sharon Mena and husband Randy of Bryan, and Rebecca Holloman and husband Jeff of West; her grandchildren, Lindsay Hill, Zachary Hill, Shaun Hill, Edward Middlebrook II and wife Rebecca, Kathryn Frazier and husband Kyle, Sarah Armor and husband Kevin, Abigail Holloman, Allison Holloman, Audrey Holloman, and Brett Holloman; a step granddaughter, Katelin Verret and husband Tyler; her great grandchildren, Jason, Edward III, Katie, Elizabeth, Kelly Brooke, Madelyn, Chloe, Kaleb, Micah, and Sydney; a step great granddaughter, Janessa; two sisters, Lila Markovitz and Ann Barton; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Pallbearers are Shaun Hill, Zachary Hill, Jason Hill, Brett Holloman, Kevin Armor, Dr. Kyle Frazier, Jack Hamilton, and Peyton Eubank.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waco Methodist Home, West Little League Baseball/Softball Association or West Athletic Booster Club.
