Pearl (Deiterman) Fridel, age 86, of West, passed away late Wednesday afternoon, September 21, 2011 at Providence Hospital in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Friday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by Janice Kaluza, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Fridel was born January 8, 1925 in West, the daughter of Edward Albert and Agatha (Uptmor) Deiterman. She attended St. Mary's school and graduated from West High School in 1944. On May 12, 1947 she was united in marriage to Emil J. Fridel in West. Pearl was an artist and oil photo colorist for Urbanovsky's Studio in West for 26 years before retiring in 1975. Prior to that, she worked for Lloyd's Studio, the Jimmy Willis Studio and the Bell Studio all in Waco. She was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Pearl was also a member of the Catholic Daughter's of America Court No. 829, St. Ann's Altar Society, R.V.O.S. Lodge in Cottonwood, the Waco Porcelain Art Guild, St. Mary's School Alumni Association, the Community Artist & Student Association of Waco, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 4819 Ladies Auxiliary, and a troop leader for the Junior Catholic Daughters. She enjoyed oil painting, china painting, collecting dolls, fishing, attending country music concerts, and playing "42" and bridge. Pearl is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Dorothy Havel. Survivors include her beloved husband of 64 years, Emil J. Fridel of West; a daughter, Mary Ann Kubacak and husband Virgil of Round Rock; a grandson, Aaron Kubacak; nephews, James Havel and wife Linda and Ed Havel and wife Linda; nieces, Carol Hernandez and husband Reuban, Lorri Zeiders and husband Rob, Donna Cox and husband Gene Cohen, and Stacy Butts and husband George; and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Patrick Havel, Freddie Kaluza, Ted Uptmor Sr., Lynn Middleton, Brian Uptmor and Eddie Chudej. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund.
