Paul Spinks

February 1, 1934 — January 1, 2022

Paul Calhoun Spinks, age 87, passed away on January 1, 2022 at his home in Richardson, Texas after a long battle with dementia. In his final years, Paul fought the disease with courage and grace, always armed with a joke and a story for those that would listen. Despite the challenges accompanying the diagnosis, Paul came through with comfort and peace. He will be honored with a graveside service at Aderhold Funeral Home in West on Saturday, January 15 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Terry McElrath officiating. Paul was born in Campbell, TX on February 1, 1934, and always liked to remind you that he grew up on a farm and was the youngest of ten children. He spent time serving in the United States Army before being honorably discharged in 1955 following the death of his father. Paul acted as the backbone of the family following his father’s death, returning home to help tend to the family farm. He later went on to study at East Texas State Teachers College. Upon graduation from ETSTC in 1957, Paul set out for a career in finance at John Hancock in Dallas. He would go on to meet the love of his life, Molly Sinkule, while both worked for the company. The couple married in 1959. Together, they raised three wonderful children and built an exciting life around his career in the insurance industry, family vacations, and weekends spent with family and friends. Paul also spent his spare time hunting and fishing throughout Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas. He spent over 18 years working for Fidelity Union Life, eventually securing his CPA and rising to the role of Comptroller. He eventually went on to open his own finance business, advising small companies in the Dallas area for 20 years until his retirement in 2008. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Bertha Fritzgerald and Britton Calhoun Spinks, as well as 4 brothers and 5 sisters. Survivors include his wife, Molly (Sinkule) Spinks; daughter, Michele (Spinks) Fite Binder and her husband Bill of Richardson; son, Michael Spinks of Blum; daughter, Donna (Spinks) Lassa and her husband Brett of Mansfield; and his four grandchildren, Taylor Cannon, Sydney Cannon, Molly Fite Little, and Sam Fite. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dementia Society of America.
