Paul Leuschner

Paul Joseph (P.J.) Leuschner, age 70, of Big Spring passed away Friday, December 30, 2005 in Lubbock. Rosary will be recited 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:15 a.m. at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Mr. Leuschner was born on October 6, 1935, the son of Carl A. and Christine K. (Glatter) Leuschner. He graduated from Waco High School and then attended Durham Business College, Tarleton State University, and Baylor University. Paul served his country in the United States Navy in the Pacific aboard three Destroyers, named the Perkins, Mansfield, and Frank E. Evans attending rank of Sonarman First Class P.O. After leaving the Navy, he entered Civil Service at James Connally Air Force Base as a Navigational Trainer Analyst. Because of base closure in 1966, he was transferred to Webb Air Force Base as an Airborne Electronics Technician. In 1972, Paul transferred into the Recreational Department as Bowling Facilitator at Webb Bowling Lanes. In 1976, after notification of base closing, he transferred to Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany working as manager of the New Bi-Centennial 32 Lanes. In 1980, he returned to Sheppard Air Force Base where he managed the Golf Course and then later took on the 488 acre Recreation job for fishing and camping before retiring in 1990 after 32 years of service. Paul enjoyed spending time with his family, playing golf, fishing, and bowling, helping other people, and especially loved his two grandchildren. Paul was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Big Spring, Masonary Faith Lodge #1158 in Wichita Falls, Scottish Rite in Ft. Worth, Muskat Shrine in Wichita Falls, and VFW Post #1145 in Wichita Falls. His parents and one son, Danny Leon Leuschner all precede him in death. Survivors include one son, Michael Paul Leuschner of Big Spring; two grandchildren, Alex Leuschner and Bradie Leuschner, both of Big Spring; two brothers, Carl Leuschner and wife Virginia of San Antonio and Gene Leuschner of Affton, MO; one sister, Kay Leuschner of North Padre Island; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Pallbearers will be Carl Paul Leuschner, Patrick Leuschner, Noah Leuschner, Patrick Leuschner Jr., Ken Bolfing & Bill Sparks. Memorials may be made to Shriner Children's Hospital.
