Patsy Halamik

Patsy (Straten) Halamik, age 88, of West, passed away early Friday morning, September 24, 2021 at Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hillsboro. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 2:00 p.m. Monday September 27, 2021 at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with The Very Rev. Will Straten as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery near Tours. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. Facial masks and social distancing are encouraged at all services. Patsy was born June 7, 1933 in Tours, the daughter of George and Agnes (Podsednik) Straten. She was a 1952 graduate of St. Martin's Catholic School in Tours. On September 25, 1951 she was united in marriage to Joe Halamik in Tours. Joe preceded her in death on January 24, 2012. Patsy was a homemaker and loved taking care of her family, raising her children, along with gardening, cooking, canning and crocheting. She also worked for the Leroy Bank and in the cafeteria at West High School for over 15 years before retiring in 1989. Patsy was a faithful and longtime member of St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours where she was dedicated in praying the rosary and singing in the church choir. She was also a member of St. Elizabeth's Altar Society, SPJST Lodge #6 in Cottonwood, KJZT Society #45 in Tours, Catholic Life, and RVOS Lodge #106. Patsy enjoyed going to the lake and traveling in their RV. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Patsy is also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Mark Halamik, Joseph Halamik, and Keith Halamik; son-in-law, Slawomir Rog; daughter-in-law, Mary Jane Halamik; brothers, George Straten Jr., Vernon Straten, Herman Straten, and Reynold Straten; and her sister, Dolores Otto. Survivors include her children, Vivian Tekell and husband Lynn of West, Patrick Halamik of Arlington, Elaine Rog of Johnson City, TN; daughters-in-law, Linda Halamik, Carla Halamik and Dana Snokhous; brothers, David Straten, Johnny Straten, and Robert Straten; sisters, Rita Jurek, Annette Bettge, and Virginia Bartosh; grandchildren, Mark Allan Halamik and wife Mary, Brent Halamik, Erik Halamik, Jon Halamik, Brittney Duffy and husband Mike, Mallory Tekell, Cory Tekell and wife Kristi, Madison Halamik, Camryn Halamik, Nate Halamik, and Blake Halamik; great grandchildren, Jack, Ivy, Carston, Cooper, Kynlee, Zachary, and Z'yla; granddog, Fiona; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Mark Allan Halamik, Brent Halamik, Erik Halamik, Jon Halamik, Cory Tekell, Nate Halamik, and Blake Halamik. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Elizabeth's Altar Society or St. Martin's Cemetery Association. Special thanks to the staff of Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hillsboro and to Alpha Omega Hospice for their love and compassion shown to our family, especially by her nurse Christina.
