Patrick Zahirniak

Patrick Wayne Zahirniak, age 47, of Crowley, formerly of West, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at Harris Methodist Hospital in Ft. Worth. A rosary and funeral service will be held 6:30 p.m. Thursday at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Burleson. Visitation will be held from 5:30 until service time at the church. A rosary will be recited 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption by Rev. Ed Karasek, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:15 a.m., with the Rev. John Hennesey and Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. Patrick was born on April 8, 1958 in Waco, to Ernest "Shorty" and Mona (Gerik) Zahirniak. He attended St. Mary's School and graduated from West High School in 1976 and graduated from Baylor University in 1980 with a bachelor's degree in Marketing Management. On July 30, 1983, he married the love of his life, Melissa Urbanovsky in West. His life revolved around his four daughters and their avid soccer activities. Patrick was their #1 fan. He was a member of S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #54 in West, K.J.T. No. 31 in West and Knights of Columbus No. 2813 in Ft. Worth. He was also a very active member of St. Ann's Catholic Church of Burleson, where he was a Hospital Ministry Eucharistic Minister. He is preceded in death by his father-in-law, Eugene "Urby" Urbanovsky and brother-in-law, Jeff Parnell. Survivors include his beloved wife of 21 years, Melissa (Urbanovsky) Zahirniak; four daughters, Kristal, Anna, Brittany and Courtney Zahirniak, all of Crowley; his parents, Ernest "Shorty" and Mona Zahirniak of West; five sisters, Shirley Vrba and Jackie Sinkule and husband Mark, all of West, Darlene Beshear of Georgia, Laurie Boyett and husband Jimmy and Paula "PK" Scott and husband Don, all of Robinson; two brothers, Ernest Zahirniak Jr. of West and James "Buck" Zahirniak of Waco; mother-in-law, Lillian Urbanovsky of West; brothers and sisters-in-law, Tina and Raymond Kolar of West, Melody and Rick Wilde of Houston, Cheryl and Russell Schumacher of Ft. Worth, Becky Parnell, Jackie and Steve Kring of Crowley, Sheila Ward of Granbury, Mike Urbanovsky of Weatherford and Douglas Urbanovsky of White Settlement; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Pat's nephews, Matthew Scott, Mark Sinkule Jr., Zeb Sinkule, Ryne (Bubba) Zahirniak, Joey Kolar, Ray Kolar, Jason Schumacher, Mike Schumacher, Randall Schumacher, Ryan Urbanovsky, Dusty Urbanovsky, Brandon Urbanovsky, Brice Beshear, Britt Beshear and Corey Halterman. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Parish Center of West or St. Ann's Catholic Church Building Fund.
