Patrick W. Kucera, age 16, of Penelope, passed away late Tuesday afternoon, May 18, 2021 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Bynum. A rosary will be recited 5:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2021 at Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Penelope, with Rev. Brijil Lawrence as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Denver Crawley. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near Penelope. Patrick was born February 28, 2005 in Waco, the son of Joshua and Billie Jo Kucera. He attended school in Penelope and was currently a sophomore at Penelope High School. Patrick was a lifelong member of the Nativity of the BVM Catholic Church in Penelope where he was an altar server. He was also a member of Penelope Future Farmers of America and National Honor Society. Patrick enjoyed swimming, wrestling with his brothers, riding his dirt bike, playing football, being part of the basketball team, picking on his uncles, lifting weights, working out, hanging out with his friends, playing pool, going to Ash Creek, and was a very avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Patrick was known as a comedian with a great sense of humor and always wanted to make everyone laugh. He was very big in his faith and prayed together with his friends at school. Patrick loved spending time with his family and going to the coast and lake for family gatherings. He will truly be missed by all his family and friends. Patrick is preceded in death by paternal great grandparents, Wilson and Lillian Kucera; and maternal great grandparents, Bill and Lillian McKinney. Survivors include his parents Joshua and B.J. Kucera; three brothers, Dylan Kucera, Chance Kucera, and Jaxon Kucera, all of Penelope; paternal grandparents, David and Susan Kucera; maternal grandparents, Joe and Susie Jaska; paternal great grandparents, Herman and JoAnn Matus; uncles, James Langlotz and wife Shay, Joey Jaska, Phillip Kucera, Kyle Kucera and wife Lety, and Thomas Kucera; aunts, Melissa Esparza and husband John Paul and Jennifer Sembera and husband Jason; cousins, Treston, Devin, Adrianna, Alyssa, Keely, Gabriel, Jocelyn, and Kason; and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Phillip Kucera, Kyle Kucera, Thomas Kucera, James Langlotz, John Paul Esparza, and Joey Jaska. Honorary pallbearers will be his brothers, cousins and the Penelope High School Class of 2023. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Penelope Athletics Program or St. Mary's Cemetery in Penelope.
