Otis "Butch" Ashley

Otis C. "Butch" Ashley, age 79, of Abbott, passed away Tuesday morning, February 7, 2023 at West Rest Haven in West.

Memorial Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 25, 2023 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Rev. Terry McElrath officiating, followed by West Masonic Lodge Rites and Military Honors conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard.

Butch was born September 2, 1943 in Waco, the son of Otis and Clara (Winkle) Ashley.  He attended schools in West and then later TSTI receiving a degree in heating and refrigeration. Butch proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. On February 25, 1968 he was united in marriage to Linda Jones in Durant, Oklahoma. Butch worked at General Tire and Rubber Company in Waco for over 17 years until they closed. He also worked for Westex Welding and Durham School Services, where he drove a school bus for the Gholson Independent School District. Butch enjoyed woodworking, guitar making, researching wind turbine energy, inventing things, working with leather, cooking, and looking on You Tube for knowledge. He loved spending time with his family and cherished time with his grandchildren. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #475, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819, and American Legion Post #478, all in West.

Butch is preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Geneva Skains and Nancy Rogers.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 55 years, Linda Ashley of Abbott; two daughters, Celeste Hudson and husband Drew of Ft. Worth and Terrie Low and husband Michael of Bluff Dale; grandchildren, Elizabeth Hudson-Langton and husband Buddy Langton, Matthew Low, and Emily Low; brothers-in-law, Michael Keith Jones and wife Dana, and Richard Jones; a sister-in-law, Theresa Halbert; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
