Orion Smith

Orion Smith, age 4, of Waco, passed away peacefully early Tuesday afternoon October 6, 2009 at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the New Road Church of Christ in Waco, with Minister Roger Stewart officiating. The family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. until service time Friday at the Church. Orion was born April 6, 2005 in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of Benjamin L. and Sondra (McDonald) Smith. He enjoyed airplanes, fast cars and video racing games. He loved nature, especially trees and plants. He loved watching Spiderman movies and his favorite food was Mac N' Cheese. Orion was a little boy that was very determined in his actions. He was a member of the New Road Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by great grandparents, Herschel and Margaret McDonald and Sam Hooten. Survivors include his loving parents, Benjamin and Sondra Smith of Waco; a brother, Kevin Smith and a sister, Kaitlyn Smith, both of Waco; maternal grandparents, Forrest & Kathy McDonald of Whitney; paternal grandparents, Tracy & Julie Smith of Hewitt; paternal great grandparents, Ben & Jen Smith of Coleman and Gordon & Margaret Breading of Christ Church, New Zealand; maternal great grandmother, Billie Hooten of Weatherford; and many other relatives and friends. Memorials may be made to New Road Church of Christ in Waco, or to Scott & White Hospital Child Life Center in Temple.
