Ollie Lee Helm, age 68, of West, passed away July 1, 2009 at his residence. Memorial services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2009 at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Ollie was born January 5, 1941 in West, the son of Marion Edgar "Ted" and Willie Belle (Brock) Helm. He attended West Schools and graduated from West High School in 1959. He also attended Texas A&M University and graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a Degree in Pharmacy in 1971. Ollie served his country with the United States Army, stationed in Switzerland and Germany. After a three year tour of duty he was honorably discharged in 1963. Ollie was a pharmacist for the Waco Veterans Administration hospital for a number of years, before retiring in 2007. He had also worked for the VA hospital in Marlin and for Old Corner Drug Store in West. Ollie was a Baptist. He enjoyed fishing, spending time on his computer, refinishing furniture, and was very artistic. He especially loved spending time with his family. Ollie was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William Marion "Buddy" Helm; two sisters, Martha Bilton and Lydia Witt; and two nephews, Sammy Witt and Michael Butler. Survivors include three brothers, Raymond Helm and his wife Lele' of San Marcos, Ted Helm and his wife June of West, and Doug Helm and his wife Brenda of Bedford; two sisters, Doris Maler of West and Bobbie Butler of Grand Prairie; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
