Olivia Brenes-Paz

Olivia Brenes-Paz, age 73, of Holland, passed away early Sunday morning, October 24, 2021 at her residence. Rosary will be recited and funeral service held 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 1, 2021 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Deacon Ronnie Sykora officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near West. The family will receive visitors from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Limited capacity, facial masks, and social distancing are encouraged at all services. Olivia was born December 27, 1947 in Granada, Nicaragua, the daughter of the late Florencio and Rosa (Aguilar) Marquez. She was a graduate of Central High School in Puerto Rico. On April 20, 1972 Olivia was united in marriage to Jose Brenes-Paz in Puerto Rico. Jose preceded her in death on January 9, 2006. She worked as a seamstress, a cook, and homemaker for many years. Olivia enjoyed watching Spanish soap operas, tending to her garden, cooking, and sewing. She loved gathering and spending time with her family. Olivia was the type of person that welcomed anyone into her home and treated everyone like family. Survivors include her children, Jose Brenes and wife Christina of Holland, and Rosa Maria Kostecka and husband Mark of West; grandchildren, Mark Kostecka Jr., Joseph Kostecka, Jonathan Jones, and Christopher Jones; and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Jose Brenes, Mark Kostecka Sr., Mark Kostecka Jr., Joseph Kostecka, Kenny Conner, and Christopher Jones. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
