Olin Henry Monthie

Olin Henry Monthie, age 78, of Waco, passed away Wednesday afternoon, December 24, 2008 at his residence with his loving family and friends by his bedside. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Gerald, with Pastor Frances Sidenblad officiating. Burial will follow at Gerald Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Saturday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Olin was born on December 31, 1929 in Hill County, the son of Henry and Emma Mae (Henderson) Monthie. He attended school in the Ross and West area and on August 16, 1950, he was united in marriage to Wilma Drews in Gerald. Olin was a farmer, the owner of the Monthie Feed Mill, and the Olin and Wilma Monthie Dairy for over 30 years before retiring in 2000. Prior to that he also worked for Sligh Lumber Company and Pure Milk Company. Olin was a member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #66 at Linden Hall, Red Brangus Assn., and the Dairy Farmers of America. He enjoyed working and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Olin was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Robinson. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Odell Monthie and Willie Lee Monthie; and two sisters, Lucille Scheler Radke and Dorothy Glatter. Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Wilma Monthie of Waco; four sons, Roy H. Monthie, Sr. and wife Janet, Bennie Monthie and wife Audrey, and Randy Joe Monthie and wife Connie, all of Elm Mott, and Ricky Monthie of Waco; one daughter, Linda Monthie Bates and husband Brandon of Waco; two sisters, Lillian Pavlas of Corpus Christi and Bobbie Jean Richter of Hewitt; thirteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are Odell Monthie Jr., Roy Monthie Jr., Mark Monthie, Jesse Hernandez, Ronnie Richter, and Garnet Pavlas. Memorials may be made to the Gerald Cemetery Association.
