Olga Hutyra, age 91, of West, passed away early Wednesday afternoon, June 9, 2010 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Olga was born on November 2, 1918 in Penelope, the daughter of Joe and Mary (Hlavenka) Knapek. She attended the Brooken School in Hill County. On May 26, 1947 she was united in marriage to Ernest D. Hutyra in Penelope. He preceded her in death on February 17, 1966. Olga was a homemaker and housewife. She enjoyed baking kolaches, doing yard work, canning and cooking. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. Olga worked at the Village Bakery for a short time. She was a faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was also a member of St. Anne's Altar Society, the Catholic Daughter's of America Court #829, the R.V.O.S. Lodge #6 and K.J.Z.T. St. Ludmila Society #11. Three brothers, Eddie Knapek, John Knapek and Raymond Knapek; and five sisters, Mary Bartosh, Matilda Sykora, Christine Sykora, Nora Holacka and Albina Kubala also preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Jeanette Pavelka and husband David of West; a twin brother, Ben Knapek and wife Lottie of Penelope; two grandsons, David Pavelka II and wife, Meg and Michael Pavelka and girl friend, Shelli Barton; a great grandson on the way, Chase Aaron Pavelka; sisters-in-law, Rosie Knapek, Helen Schutza, Carolyn Gerik and Doris Hutyra; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are David Pavelka II, Michael Pavelka, Eugene Knapek, Larry Knapek, Tommy Gerik, and Brian Sykora. Memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption or the Alzheimer's Association.
