Norman E. Sulak, age 74, of West, passed away early Monday morning, August 6, 2012 at Providence Health Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West by Ronnie Sykora, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by West Veterans Honor Guard. Norman was born June 12, 1938 in Aquilla, the son of Joe D. and Mary (Holacka) Sulak. He attended Alligator Creek School, Cottonwood School, St. Mary's School, and graduated from West High School. He served his country with the United States Army. On May 20, 1961, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Klaus in West. He worked as a printer for J.S. Barnett Printing Company for 30 years and Healer Printing Company for 20 years. Norman was a lifelong and faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Norman was very active in St. Mary's school when his children were growing up. He was also a member of the American Legion Post No. 478, West Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305, and a former Boy Scout leader. Norman enjoyed fishing, hunting, polka dancing, listening to Czech music, and sitting in the garage and visiting with all his friends. Norman is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, George Sulak; and a sister, Leona Tays. Survivors include his beloved wife of 51 years, Dorothy Sulak of West; two sons, David Sulak and Michael "Mick" Sulak, both of West; a daughter, Denise Sulak of West; a brother, Dennis Sulak and wife Rose, of West; five grandchildren, Jon Cody Castro, Brittany Dilks and husband Travis, Sharla Salazar and husband Abel, Tanner Sulak, and Morgan Sulak; two great-grandchildren, Gabbie and Kynlee; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Tom Hutyra, Kyle Klaus, Keith Sulak, Rick Sulak, Rick Kolar, and Kenneth Popp. Honorary pallbearers are member of American Legion Post No. 478. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Ambulance Association, St. Mary's Church Building Fund, or the charity of your choice.
