Nina M. Kissinger, age 98, of West, passed away late Sunday evening, August 3, 2014 at St. Catherine Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Paul Hudson as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Nina was born June 19, 1916 in Hill County, the daughter of Luther L. and Geneva Hazel (Irby) Mitchell. She attended schools in Mayfield and Hillsboro. In October of 1939 she was united in marriage to Emil J. Blahuta in West. Emil preceded her in death on March 1, 1964. Then in July of 1973 she was united in marriage to John W. Kissinger in West and John preceded her in death on September 16, 2002. Nina owned and operated Nina's Beauty Shop in West for many years before retiring in 1974. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and the Catholic Daughters of America Court #829. Nina enjoyed playing bridge and going out to eat catfish. She especially loved spending time with her many friends. Nina is also preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Leon Mitchell; and four sisters, Berna Kallum, Sue Girard, Lois Koenig and Faye Hairill. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Samantha Hudson and husband John, Brenda Stafford and Debbie Koenig; loving neighbors, Larry and Theresa Sparks and their children, Sarah and Ethan; and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are John Hudson, Ethan Martin, Ethan Sparks, Larry Sparks, C.J. Hajek and Matthew Hajek. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West.
