Nelda F. Prause

Nelda Faith Prause, age 72, of Aquilla, passed away early Saturday morning, September 28, 2013 at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. Graveside services will be held 11:30 a.m. at Wortham Bend Cemetery near China Spring. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Nelda was born October 29, 1940 in Oakland, Tennessee the daughter of Charlie Lawton and Louise Faith (Garrett) Smith. She was a 1957 graduate of Fayette County High School. On February 8, 1960 she was united in marriage to James L. "Jim" Prause in Waco. Nelda was the regional manager for National Living Centers from 1975 to 1987 before becoming the administrator of West Rest Haven where she stayed until she retired in 2009. She loved working in West and had great compassion for all her residents and employees. She enjoyed fabric painting, cooking, playing solitaire, traveling to the Caribbean, and she especially loved her dogs. Nelda is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Charles Smith. Survivors include her beloved husband of 53 years, James L. "Jim" Prause of Aquilla; a son James R. Prause and wife Khristal of Peoria; a daughter, Katrina Lynn and husband Michael Esterly of Franklin, Virginia; brothers, Jerry Smith and wife Amy, and James "Bo" Smith; sisters, Laurette Brunner and husband Carl and Pat Hague and husband John; grandchildren, J. Russell Prause Jr. and Patience DeLoach and husband Shane; a great granddaughter, Chloe Prause; best friend, Linda Havel; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Eddie Morris, Jonathan Morris, Harry Svacek, David Prause, Mark Prause and Rodney Yarbrough. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Rest Haven Disaster Relief Fund.
