Naomi Ruth Scott

Naomi Ruth (Popp) Scott, age 90, of West, passed away Monday morning, October 10, 2022 at West Rest Haven in West.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 14, 2022 at the West Brethren Church, with Brother Gerry Davis officiating. Click for LIVE STREAM at West Brethren. Burial will follow at West Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel.

Naomi was born June 3, 1932 in Abbott, the daughter of Henry and Bessie (Lastovica) Popp. She attended schools in Abbott and was a 1950 graduate of Abbott High School. On October 18, 1952 she was united in marriage to Billy Wade Scott in West. Billy preceded her in death on November 14, 2014. Naomi was a faithful member of the West Brethren Church. She was a member of SPJST Lodge #54 in West and a former member of the Christian Sisters at church. She worked for A. E. Gibbons MD in Waco for many years before retiring in 1989 and previously worked for the Waco Independent School District. Naomi enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, traveling, playing card games with her friends, and going to the casinos with Sylvia. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Naomi is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ernest, Dan, and Henry John Popp; and sisters, Anne Emery and Lana Popp.

Survivors include her children Toni Holecek of West, Travis Scott and wife Debbie of Ross, and Tim Scott and wife Shannon of Coppell; her grandchildren, Amy and Nick Atnip, Trevor Scott, Preston Scott, and Madison Scott; her great grandchildren, Ella and Mason; two sisters, Bess Jez and husband John, and Linda Gardner and husband Spencer; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Active pallbearers are Preston Scott, Trevor Scott, Nick Atnip, David Scott, David Popp, and Mike Emery. Honorary pallbearers are all of her nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank West Rest Haven nurses and staff for their loving care and kindness to Naomi and family during her stay at the nursing home.
