Naida (Russell) Goldsmith, age 86, of Chalk Bluff, passed away early Thursday morning, May 23, 2024 at The Atrium in Bellmead.
Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 25, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Gholson, with Rev. James Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Grove Cemetery near West.
Naida was born May 17, 1938 in West, the daughter of Clovis and Gertrue (Ray) Russell. She was a 1957 graduate of West High School and 1977 graduate of Sam Houston State University with a Master's Degree in Education. On July 2, 1960 she was united in marriage to Marvin Goldsmith in West. Naida was a very active and faithful member of First Baptist Church of Gholson as well as the Order of the Eastern Star and Gideon International Auxiliary. She was a kindergarten teacher for 25 years, the last 14 of which were with the LaVega Independent School District before retiring in 1996. She loved teaching and working with children. Naida enjoyed traveling and going to the beach. She loved spending time with her family and friends.
Naida is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clovis Russell, Eldon Russell, and Milton Russell; and a sister, Maurita Lueg.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 63 years, Marvin Ray Goldsmith of Chalk Bluff; her sons, Ronald Ray Goldsmith and wife Inga of Mansfield, and Lee Marvin Goldsmith of Colorado; a brother, Gayle Clinton Russell and wife Irene of Red Oak; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers are Gideons: Tom Webster, Ray Murphy, Gary Stokes, Tim Howard, Larry McAdoo, and Geoffrey Hayden.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Liberty Grove Cemetery Association.
