Mitzi Urbanovsky

Mitzi (Heitmiller) Urbanovsky, age 72, of West, passed away Wednesday, October 19, 2022 while on vacation in Galveston.

Graveside Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at St. Mary's Cemetery in West, with Deacon Ronnie Sykora officiating.

Mitzi was born October 22, 1949 in Waco, the daughter of the late Harry and Irene (Grossman) Heitmiller. She was a 1968 graduate of West High School and a 1972 graduate of Sam Houston State University, obtaining a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology and Psychology. On March 9, 1973 she was united in marriage to David Urbanovsky in West.  They lived in North Richland Hills for 18 years where they raised their son, Ryan, before retiring to West.  She and David had a good life together and enjoyed the history of their home community. They both were pivotal in starting the History of West Museum. David preceded her in death on November 25, 2020. Mitzi worked as a social worker for the State of Texas for many years. She served on the West Public Library Board. Mitzi enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and friends.  Mitzi was an amazing conversationalist and never met a stranger.  She had a great sense of humor and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her son, Ryan Urbanovsky of West; sister, Myrna Jezek and husband George; sister-in-law, Cynthia Zahirniak; nieces, Paige Guerra and husband Frank, Holly Hannes, and Heidi Sepulveda and husband Chris; nephews, Heath Hannes, and Keith Jezek and wife Maribeth; great nephews, Josh Guerra, Christian Guerra, Jack Guerra, Walker Jezek, and Weston Jezek and wife Tessia; great niece, Audrey Jezek; great-great nephews, Jude Jezek and Kaden Sepulveda; and many other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the West Public Library or the History of West Museum.
