Mina Larpenter

Mina Elizabeth Larpenter, age 77, of West, passed away early Monday morning, November 13, 2017, at her residence in Ross. Memorial services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Gholson Baptist Church with reception following at Chalk Bluff Baptist Church. Mina was born April 9, 1940 in Waco, the daughter of Lawrence and Alma (Looney) Jones. She attended primary school in Rosebud while living with her grandparents; then junior high and high school in Galena Park, outside of Houston. Mina graduated from Milby High School in 1958. On December 28, 1959 she was united in marriage to John Larpenter in Houston. Mina loved learning. She attended college at San Jacinto College, University of Houston, McLennan Community College and Tarleton State University. In 1985 she received her associates degree in Management, in 1990 her Bachelors in Business Administration, and in 1997 she obtained her teachers certification. Mina was a business woman; she held several executive positions, co-owned businesses, volunteered in schools, and taught special education at Lake Air and Tennyson middle schools. Mina loved to be active, involved and in charge. She enjoyed boating, camping, scuba diving, water skiing, softball, volleyball and square dancing. She was always ready to play games and was very competitive. She especially enjoyed spades and 42. She was an active member of Chalk Bluff Baptist Church, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, serving on committees and always ready to serve others. Mina is survived by her beloved husband John of 58 years; children, Deanna Bigham and husband Tommy of Ross, John Aaron Larpenter and wife Carol of Olgesby and Dawn Jacques and husband John of South Carolina; grandchildren, Corina Deemer and husband Ryan of Robinson, Travis Brown and wife Emily of West, Tana Brown of Bellmead, Kelise Larpenter of Reisel, and Emma, Alea, Avri, Jace and Eyli Jacques of South Carolina; great-grandchildren, Abbie Deemer, Autumn Ragsdale and Geri and Rylynn Brown; brothers, Doug Jones, Rick Jones and Kelly Jones; a sister, Laura Wojan; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
