Michael Tackitt

Michael Clay Tackitt passed peacefully in his sleep in Waco, TX on January 26, 2020 at the age of 68. Michael is survived by his brother and sister-in law, Lloyd Tackitt and Susan Tackitt and his Sister in Law, Bonnie Tackitt. Along with his nieces and nephews. Tonya, Shannon, Robyn & Clara, Misty, Dawn & Donald, David & Mari, Josh & Theresa, Bobby & Crystal, Cori & Tony and many great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his Father and Mother, William & Betty Tackitt. His Brother, Bill Tackitt and his sister, Barbara Van Ellen as well as other loved family members. Michael was born on September 6th, 1951 on the Misawa AFB in Japan to William and Betty. He graduated from Crawford high school in 1970 and enlisted in the Navy. Michael served the United States Navy from 1970 to 1975 aboard the Franklin D Roosevelt Aircraft Carrier. After his honorable discharge, Michael attended TSTI in 1976 where he earned a degree in Laser Optics. Michael was accomplished at his trade and developed laser applications for multinational corporations and the military as well as holding many laser patents. He loved his career and what he accomplished. He retired after 35 years in 2011. He was a caring, generous and highly intelligent individual who loved his family immensely. Michael never had children of his own but loved the children in his family. He leaves behind his brother, Lloyd who he was extremely close to, not only in age but in the friendship that can only be found and forged between siblings. Michael's passing has left a huge hole in so many hearts and lives and will be missed dearly by his family and all that knew him. Michael did not want a memorial service and in lieu of flowers he asked that Donations please be sent to the USO or other Veterans Organizations.
