Michael J. Polasek, age 77, of Blue Ridge, formerly of West, passed away early Sunday morning, March 14, 2021 at his residence. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 26, 2021 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Limited capacity, facial masks, and social distancing are encouraged at all services. Michael was born February 13, 1944 in Waco, the son of the late Dorothy Jares Polasek and Joseph R. Polasek Jr. He attended schools in West and was a 1963 graduate of West High School prior to attending Hill County Junior College in Hillsboro followed by Stephen F. Austin University in Nacogdoches. On February 26, 1993 he was united in marriage to Lynda Baker in Las Vegas, NV. Michael worked for a division of Texas Instruments, that later sold to Raytheon, for a total of 44 years before retiring in 2012. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and playing cards and dominoes. He was a very avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Survivors include his beloved wife of 28 years, Lynda Polasek of Blue Ridge; his stepson, Michael Pierson and wife Nicole of Burleson; his brother, Joe Polasek III and wife Missy of Boerne and their son, Jared; brothers-in-law, Deryl Baker and wife Betty of Slidell, LA and Leland Tucker and wife Betty of Denver City; his grandchildren, Colin and Cara Pierson; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association or the Alzheimer's Association.
