Michael Breen

Michael Anthony "Mike" Breen, age 80, of Waco, passed away Sunday evening, December 31, 2023 at Providence Hospital in Waco, surrounded by his beloved wife and close friends.

A rosary will be recited 9:30 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2024 at St. Jerome Catholic Church (9820 Chapel Road, Woodway, TX 76712), by Deacon Greg George.  Memorial Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 5, 2024 at St. Jerome Catholic Church, with Rev. Rakshaganathan Selvaraj as celebrant.

Mike was born October 30, 1943 in Hammond, Indiana, the son of Robert and Helen (Burks) Breen. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War from 1964 until being honorably discharged in 1970. Mike was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church and was also a 3rd degree and 60 year member of Knights of Columbus Council. He was a very talented musician who sang, played the guitar and drums, and loved to dance. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Mike's amiable, engaging personality, and penchant for telling a good joke or story made him a lifetime of close friends. He will be best remembered as a man of faith, proud of his service to his country, one who loved his family dearly, and he never met a stranger.

Michael is also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Robert K. Breen; a brother, Wilford Breen; and sisters, Sister Mary Elaine Breen and Susan Bennetts.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Thelma Bounds of Waco; daughter, Helen Marie Norris and husband Jeff of Weldona, CO; a granddaughter, Morgan Launer and husband Austin of Weldona, CO; a sister, Judith Breen Keane of Poughkeepsie, NY; a brother, Dr. Robert Breen and wife Laura of Rockwall, TX; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Vincent De Paul - St. Jerome Waco Conference . Mike was passionate about supporting this organization with his time and talent.
