Mattie Hoelscher

January 18, 1929 — August 24, 2024

Mattie Hoelscher, age 95, of West, went to be with the Lord early Saturday evening, August 24, 2024 at her residence, surrounded by her family.


A rosary will be recited 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2024 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Timothy Vaverek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.


Mattie was born January 18, 1929 in Wichita Falls, the daughter of James and Gladys (Yates) Riggs. She was a 1946 graduate of Crozier Tech High School in Dallas. On June 22, 1953 she was united in marriage to Eugene Hoelscher in Dallas. Eugene preceded her in death on August 9, 2018. Mattie was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters of America Court #829. She worked at Factory Outlets in West and was a substitute teacher for St. Mary's School. Mattie enjoyed sewing, cross stitching, and gambling. Her most valuable time was spent with her family.


Mattie is also preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Daryl Ayers; brothers, Leonard Riggs, James Riggs, Jack Riggs, and William Riggs; and sisters, Dorothy Mae Riggs, and Virginia Bunch.


Survivors include her children, Pamela Pape and husband Steve of Arlington, Karen Ayers of West, Cheryl Hoelscher of West, Phyllis Kamm and husband Rocky of Georgetown, Phillip Hoelscher and wife Arlene of Garland, Mark Hoelscher of West, Daryl Hoelscher and wife Dana of The Colony, Keith Hoelscher and wife Karen of Ross, and Karla Dulock of West; grandchildren, Jeremy Jones and Linda, Justin Jones, Ethan Ayers, Adam Grier, Amber Richards, Hillary Torres and Mathew, Hannah Selsor and Casey, Ian Kamm, Dillon Hoelscher and Chelsea, Dalton Hoelscher and Ben, Kasey Zia and Emad, Ravyn Hoelscher and Nebil, Kelsey Sparks and Jake, Kyndall Hoelscher, and Rachel Dulock; great grandchildren, Luke, Tyson, Addison, Knox, Kollyns, Scottie Rose, Sage, Avie, Carter, and Zayd; a sister, Mary Ann Kershaw; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.


Active pallbearers are her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are her granddaughters.
