Matthew "Corky" Barnes

Matthew "Corky" Barnes, age 59, of Chalk Bluff, passed away Saturday afternoon, September 3, 2022 at his residence.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Matthew was born May 11, 1963 in Texarkana, Texas, the son of Charles and Gladys (Gray) Barnes. He attended school in Aquilla and was a 1982 graduate of Aquilla High School. On October 24, 1981 he was united in marriage to Robyn York in Gholson. Matthew was a self employed contractor, specializing in remodeling, for over 30 years.  He enjoyed going to the coast, collecting seashells, playing games, and riding his motorcycle. Matthew loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He was a member of the Fully Informed Jury Association.

Matthew is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Mark and Jonathan Barnes.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 41 years, Robyn Barnes of Chalk Bluff; two sons, Matthew Paul Barnes and wife Shannon of Waco and Grayson Lloyd Barnes of Chalk Bluff; a brother, Loyd Barnes and wife Deanna of Mart; a sister, Kenita Fendley and husband Richard of Cedar Springs; sisters-in-law, Barb Barnes and Aaron Langston; brothers-in-law, Allan York and wife Julie, and Jeff York; three grandchildren, Jacob Barnes and wife Ally, Keirsten Barnes, and Loraine Barnes; two great grandchildren, Grayson Michael and Gabriella Barnes; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
