Mary (Mynar) Mikuda, age 96, of Penelope, passed away early Monday morning, August 25, 2008 at West Rest Haven. A rosary will be recited 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home by Janice Kaluza, followed by a visitation until 8:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of the Nativity, B.V.M. in Penelope with Rev. B. George as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery near Penelope. Mrs. Mikuda was born on May 15, 1912 in Hill County, the daughter of John and Rosie (Neckar) Mynar. She attended Brigman School in Penelope and on September 12, 1932, was united in marriage to Charlie Mikuda in West. He preceded her in death on January 13, 1977. Mary was a homemaker and helped on the family farm most of her life. She also worked for the Village Bakery in West for a short time. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking, baking kolaches, quilting, and she especially loved growing and tending to her large flower garden. Mary also volunteered gardening at the church, cemetery, and nursing home. She was a faithful member of the Church of the Nativity B.V.M. in Penelope, SPJST Lodge #145, Penelope Altar Society, and Catholic Daughters of America Court #829. Mary is also preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Ben Mynar, Felix Mynar, Joe Mynar, and John Mynar; five sisters, Hattie Kramer, Annie Ondrej, Rosie Bartosh, Lillie De Jong, and Martha Hutyra; one son-in-law, Shorty Stuckly; and one great-great granddaughter, Laney Richard. Survivors include a son, George Mikuda and wife Jeannie of Mesquite; a daughter, Evelyn Stuckly of Mt. Calm; a sister, Adele Sembera of West; two sisters-in-law, Helen Mynar of Abbott and Mary Mikuda of Temple; six grandchildren, Darlene Herring and husband Eddy, Elton Stuckly, Jr. and wife Peggy, Charlotte Hromadka and husband James, Mary Lou Mynar and husband George, Ed Mikuda and wife Lana, and Donna Mikuda; twelve great-grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery in Penelope or Penelope Volunteer Fire Department. The family would like to thank the staff of West Rest Haven for the special care they gave to our Mother and Grandmother.
