Graveside Service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2023 at St. Mary's Cemetery near West, with Rev. Timothy Vaverek officiating.
Mary was born May 22, 1951 in Enid, OK, the daughter of Elmo Moran and Jean Moy. On January 2, 1971 she was united in marriage to Charles Sykora in Waco. The two met while Mary was working as a waitress at a diner in Waco. Charles would bring her a newspaper after he got off work and they'd sit and talk while coloring in the letters in the paper. Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waco. She was also a member of Choctaw Nation. Mary enjoyed playing bingo, sewing, and quilting. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Mary dedicated years of her life to researching her family's lineage and taking care of her husband, Charles, and was an excellent source of information for her family.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Brenda Ferguson; a brother, Butch Thornton; and her step mother, Juanita Moran.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 52 years, Charles Sykora of Waco; her sons, Scott Sykora and wife Tonya of Mertens and Matthew Sykora of Bruceville; her grandchildren, Scott Harold Sykora and wife Kashley, Shane Sykora and wife Jennifer, Joseph Sullivan and wife Cheyanne, Seth Sykora, Brock Sykora, Addison Sykora, and Avery Sykora; her great-grandchildren, Kaden, Laken, and Huxten Sullivan; several brothers and sisters; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Cemetery Association.
