Mary Marguerite Soukup

Mary Marguerite Soukup, age 85, of Ferris, passed away early Tuesday morning, May 26, 2009 at her residence. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mary was born January 3, 1924 in Groesbeck, the daughter of Boyd and Ethel Rhodes. On November 21, 1949 she was united in marriage to Louis Soukup in West. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1989. She was a homemaker. Mary enjoyed cooking, canning, playing bingo, and she especially loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the Western Fraternal Life Association Lodge #401 in Dallas. Her parents; a sister, Juanita Robinson; and a brother, Buddy Rhodes, also preceded her in death. Survivors include three sons, Darrell Pilgrim and wife Mary of Dallas, Jerry Pilgrim and wife Monnie of Bullard, and Ronnie Soukup and wife Sherry of Duncanville; two daughters, Linda Grimm of Waco and Christina Sims of Ferris; one brother, Kelton Rhodes of Dallas; one sister, Muzette Hartnett of Burleson; eight grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
